Mitchell Chapman, Jr. biography shows the connections between us and the Chapmans.
Mitchell Chapman was born January 1, 1864, on his father's farm in Taliaferro County, Georgia.
He having grown to manhood, he fell in love with MISS ANNA ATKINSON, a very attractive daughter of HENRY ATKINSON, and married on January 18, 1884. They lived happily together for nineteen years. Mrs. Anna Chapman departed this life on December 18, 1903.
Being a widow, he married a second time to the daughter of Mrs. MATILDA ATKINSON, MISS HATTIE ATKINSON in 1909 *(Henry Atkinson's granddaughter).
He is a good man of rare ability and has many white friends. He has had the good fortune of accumulating much property. He owns a fertile farm of more than four hundred acres and resides in a beautiful two-story building valued at two thousand dollars. Two of his sons, Mr. Hubert and Clifford Chapman, are prosperous farmers living on the plantation with him. He has one daughter married, Mrs. Tressee Mills, who now resides in Kansas, Mo., and another daughter, Miss Pearl Chapman, attending college in Atlanta. The rest of the children are at home.
M. C. Chapman is a prominent member in the Masonic Lodge, the Benevolent Society of Springfield, a member of the Georgia Farmers Industrial Convention, and a stockholder in the Negro Fair of Taliaferro County, Georgia.
